If you’re going camping with the family and you have a total of 5 people sleeping in the same tent, you may think that a 6-person tent will be large enough. Think again. When they say a “5-person tent”, they mean 5 people can sleep right up next to each other. Personally, I’m too claustrophobic for all that. I need my space. A quick search on Google revealed some of the largest family camping tents that I have ever seen!
While searching, I kept 3 important things in mind when looking to purchase a tent.
- Quality: This is the number 1 priority. Even if you find a great deal on a tent, you want it to last and hold up through all the wear and tear. You definitely don’t want to tear a hole in it while camping and not be able to keep the weather and bugs out while your sleeping.
- Price: Once I find a tent that I know I can rely on, its time to bargain. That’s the beauty of shopping online! You can just bounce around from website to website until you find the absolute best price.
- Size: Of course this depends on how big your family is. But if you are looking for large, roomy tents that have plenty of room for everyone in the family, you’ve come to the right place! Check them out. I think you will be just as amazed as I am by the size of these things!
The Largest Camping Tents Available Online
Vango Orava 600XL Tent
This tent is HUGE! We’re talking 333 ft² (31 m²) of space. This includes 3 sleeping rooms, a living room, and a front room or “wet room”. Some call it a wet room because it has no floor but will still protect you from the rain. You could store your gear in there as well.
This thing officially sleeps 6 people but it could easily sleep 12 if some of the campers sleep in the living room. It has a fully sewn-in and sealed floor which gives it a great waterproof rating. And with 8 PVC external windows, plus the 5 windows on the doors, ventilation will not be a problem at all.
Weight-wise, this tent is pretty heavy! But when you look at how big and tall it really is, it makes sense.
Ozark Trail Cabin Tent
This is a “20 person tent” but just like the previous tent on this list, it wouldn’t be too comfortable. But with everyone spread out on cots or air mattresses, this tent easily sleeps 10 with plenty of extra room for playing games with the kids and stuff like that.
The tent has a Y shaped design and sets up fairly easily and quickly for its size. The tent’s roof is mesh but it comes with a rain fly that covers all the mesh and keeps rain out. This tent stands very tall as well.
There are room dividers inside that separate the tent into 3 rooms and each room has its own entrance door. You and your family will have some unforgettable adventures with this tent!
Core 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent
This one isn’t quite as big as the previous two but it definitely has plenty of space! And the best part about it is how easy it is to set up. According to the description, it can be set up in as little as two minutes! That’s more time for you to spend enjoying yourself and hanging with your loved ones.
You can divide this tent into 3 separate sections thanks to the included room dividers. And the ceiling height in the center of the tent is a ridiculous 84″ so even the tallest of the campers will be able to stand up straight and not have to worry about slouching down to move about the tent.
Some more perks about this tent include:
- No assembly required: poles pre-attached to tent
- Fits 3 queen airbeds
- Ground vents for improved air circulation
- Fully taped seems
- Carry bag included
Ozark Trail Hazel 20-Person Tunnel Tent
Another huge tent right here folks! And its a real simple design so set up and take down is a breeze. And once again, I’m sure it could sleep 20 campers in sleeping bags but it’ll be perfect for a large family of about 10 to sleep on cots or air mattresses. In fact, the description says that you can fit 6 queen air beds in this thing!
The tunnel design will definitely be a plus in windy conditions and the included rain fly will keep you nice and dry. And there’s plenty of space inside this tent to play games and stuff when the weather is nasty outside.
Some more perks about this tent include:
- A sewn in room divider
- A second door located at the back of the tent
- A roll-back fly and mesh roof
- Large mesh sidewalls and windows
- Two clip-in gear lofts
- Expandable carry duffle included
Northwest Territory Grand Canyon Tent
As you can tell from the picture above this huge tent resembles a cabin and its designed well. With its 240ft² of floor space, its definitely big enough for a family or group of 12 to sleep comfortably.
It has 4 big windows, 1 door, and 3 dividers inside to make it a 3 room cabin tent. And get this… it has two closets on the back end that measure 2′ deep with large mesh hanging organizers! That’s just crazy to me that you can have a tent that has not one, but two closets!
One of the silver coated fabric dividers can be used as a movie screen which is just awesome!
The specs are 20’L x 9’W x 84″H. This is my favorite tent on the list. I just think it was an awesome idea to design it to look like a mountain cabin.
